More than 100 types of human papilloma virus – HPV are known

HPV is the easiest sexually transmitted infection, as the virus is skin-borne and jumps from person to person with a simple exchange of infected bodily fluids (using condoms gives, in this particular case, limited protection).

Infection with high-risk HPV subtypes is the main cause of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.

The annual pap test is important for detecting cell changes (precancerous stages) in the cervix, from long-term HPV infection.

DNA detection testing and virus typing can be used

1. either to confirm suspected pap-tests
2. and to identify the danger of the virus
3. or as a preventive test to detect possible viral infection before the manifestation of cellular infections

However, the presence of high-risk strains of HPV is also associated with malignancies in other infected organs such as the larynx, oropharyngeal cavity, respiratory, etc. For this reason, the need for valid detection and diagnosis of HPV provides information for further preventive screening and valid diagnosis and treatment.

Even low-risk strains can develop warts in the anus and genitals, as well as respiratory papillomas.

The test simultaneously detects the 74 most widespread forms of the virus, including the pathogenic forms (high risk) but also the subtypes of the virus, of unspecified risk. Among the types, that are detected are:

1. high-risk executives:

16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 97

1. potentially high-risk strains:

26, 53, 66, 68, 73, 82

• low risk strains:

6, 11, 13, 40, 42, 43, 44, 54, 55, 61, 70, 72,81, 89, 102, 106

1. strains of unspecified risk

30, 32, 34, 62, 64, 67, 69, 71, 74, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 90, 91
