Thyroglobulin TG belongs to the markers of neoplasia. These substances at some level are produced by normal body cells. When "new" cells appear, then their most intense metabolism produces these substances at increased levels.

Young cells can be a result of:

1. tissue regeneration after some destruction - inflammation
2. development of new pathologically differentiated tissue or non-pathologically differentiated tissue

Thyroid neoplasms are relatively rare. Indications of thyroid cancer should not be ignored. The most important of them are:

1. Thickening - swelling in the front of the neck
2. Sore throat, difficulty on swallowing - breathing
3. Change in voice
4. Persistent cough that is not from a cold

It is recommended to use thyroglobulin in the control of thyroid malignancies (in the diagnosis, monitoring, and assessment of the corresponding treatment) in:

1. Adenoma
2. Papillomatous cancer
3. Follicular cancer

This test is not included in a check-up - screening

In adults (18-65 years old) indicative values are : < 56 ng/mL

Elevated TG values may be found in non-cancerous diseases (Hashimoto, Graves, benign hyperplasia)

Simple blood collection happens at any time of the day (7.30-19.30)

1. In case of thyroid puncture, one week should pass before the examination
2. No restrictions on food from the previous day
3. No restrictions on possible medication intake
4. The result is not affected by any existing transient illness - cold

The result is given on the next day after 6.00 pm. for blood draws until 11.00 am
