The Histocompatibility Antigen HLA B27 is a special protein present in a percentage of the population, on the surface of cells. It belongs to the histocompatibility system, i.e. the mechanism of recognition of the body's cells as familiar to the immune system.

The presence of HLA B27 is associated with autoimmune diseases

1. spondyloarthropathies at the age of < 30
2. ankylosing spondylitis (Marie-Strumpell disease)

Indications for the need for the examination are:

1. inflammations in acute phases
2. chronic in spine, neck, chest, eyes, joints
3. ophthalmia rickets

Simple blood collection happens at any time of the day (7.30-19.30)

1. without restrictions on food from the previous day
2. without restrictions on possible medication intake
3. the result is not affected of any existing transient illness - cold
