Cytology Urine

With urine cytology, we detect:

– Bladder and kidney neoplasms

– Evidence of urinary tract inflammation characterized by:

  1. pyospheres (neutrophils, polymorphonuclears, and mast cells).
  2. the reactive nature of the epithelial cells

-Bacteria and other microorganisms. In women, vaginal trichomonas, Candida albicans fungal infections, and cellular changes from the polyomavirus (decoy cells) can be detected.

– Cytopathological changes from viruses (Herpes, Cytomegalovirus).

Samples can also be taken in the laboratory.

URINE SAMPLE
  1. 3 urine samples from 3 different days are required. Each sample should arrive at the laboratory before 13.00.
  2. One of the three samples must be from the first-morning urine.
  3. To preserve the sample, it is required to put 2 tablespoons of pure alcohol in the sample, and then keep it in the refrigerator, until it is sent to the laboratory.
