INDICATIONS - SIGNIFICANCE (Narcotic Substances Drug Test)

The detection of narcotic substances is done for:

1. completing the job assessment in many occupations (e.g. police officers)
2. attending a rehab program
3. control of unexplained behavior – suspected use in young people

The analyzes are performed on a urine sample taken at the laboratory. Samples, that are received at the laboratory after collection at home will be marked accordingly on the reply slip

The effectiveness in the detection of substances is affected by:

1. the time that has passed since the last use
2. the patient's metabolism

Indicatively, they are listed as the maximum detection time of substances in occasional users:

• Cocaine: 24 – 72 hours
• Amphetamines: 24 – 96 hours
• Cannabinoids: 2 – 5 days
• Barbiturates: 1 – 4 days
• Opiates: 24 – 72 hours

Quantitative method

With the quantitative method, the results are given with a number from which the degree of exposure to the specific narcotic substances is assessed. These are :

1. Cannabinoids
2. Barbiturates
3. Cocaine
4. Amphetamines
5. Opium

In addition, blood alcohol levels can also be examined.
