The regulation of metabolism is most dependent on hormonal balance.
The test is indicated in adults with signs of disorders in
In basic hormonal metabolism test, we use the hormones:
fT4 (free thyroxine), TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone): we check the basic parameters of thyroid function. The thyroid regulates overall the rate of metabolism in all the cells. Possible over- or under-functioning of it significantly disrupts weight management, fat, and cholesterol metabolism as well as sugars.
Insulin (Ins) peptide is a hormone responsible for the catabolism of carbohydrates (sugars). By measuring them, we find out the body's ability to metabolize sugars at a specific rate and efficiency. They further evaluate the possibility of diabetes in cases where anyone can assume that there is a possibility to be appeared in the future due to obesity, family history, etc.
Cortisol (Cort) is the opposite hormone to insulin. Its oversecretion enhances lipogenesis and inhibits lipolysis, while making the burning of sugars problematic, giving high sugar values.
Testosterone (Testo) is the main androgenic hormone, which is necessary for the proper development of muscles, which regulate the metabolism.
In the evaluation of hormones, it is also recommended to consider the biochemical parameters:
Sugar (Glu) Possible hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia as well as subclinical latent diabetes (prediabetic state) are controlled. The most useful is the measurement of 2-hour sugar, i.e. the sugar after two hours of a meal rich in carbohydrates and sugars, with which the predisposition to diabetes is detected with greater sensitivity.
Creatine phosphokinase (CK or CPK) is an enzyme of muscle cells that must be detected in the blood at specific levels. Low or high values of it are assessed indirectly in the assessment of metabolic rate.
CRP (C-reactive protein), is a key indicator of inflammation that is evaluated in detecting the negative effect of inflammation and possibly excessive adipose tissue on metabolism.
A general urine test is used in the evaluation of metabolism mainly through the detection of proteins and ketone bodies, the presence of which may indicate a catabolic stage that significantly weakens the organism.
PREPARATION
A simple blood test is required for laboratory testing.
No preparation or diet is required. Blood sampling can be done at any time of the day.
BLOOD DRAWING
Blood sampling is done in the early morning hours of the day (7.30 am – 9.30 am).
EXPECTED TIME FOR THE RESULTS
Results are given on the same day.
CHARGES
Laboratory tests for allergies are prescribed at the EOPYY, with the participation of the examinee as defined by the referral (15%, unless otherwise stated)
