Cancer - Genetic testing

The manifestation of cancer is the result of the accumulation of multiple mutations in the DNA of cells

During our life, cells in most organs are renewed – they die and are replaced with new ones. During their renewal, the DNA is faithfully copied from the old cell to the new one.

Rarely, an error occurs during cell replication that causes a mutation. The mutated cell may not be viable. But some of them are viable, and then we have a new different mutant-neoplastic cell.

Accumulation of multiple mutations in the same cell can lead to the cancerous formation.

The importance of knowing the mutations that

we bring from our parents, it is an extremely important knowledge. It shows us if we have "built" a certain level of mutations that constitute an increased chance of cancer.

The exploitation of the results if they are finally found to be positive for mutations, is based on the stricter proportionate and the planned execution of targeted–personalized preventive examinations.

The goal is the early detection of possible precancerous or cancerous tissue.

Early detection and diagnosis give the opportunity:

• avoiding surgery
• if surgery is eventually required, will minimize the extent and severity of the surgery or any subsequent treatment
• the best possible prognostic data of cure or successful treatment

In this effort, we analyze 483 genes at the same time that are involved in more common cancers, such as

1. breast-ovary cancer
2. intestine - gastric - pancreas cancer
3. kidneys cancer
4. prostate cancer
5. thyroid – parathyroid cancer
6. melanoma
7. retinoblastoma
