Anti Mullerian - AMH
What are Antithyroid Antibodies?
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a hormone produced by the reproductive systems in both males and females (testes/ovaries respectively).
Where Used
Anti-Müllerian AMH is used as a fertility marker in women for:
- Assessing ovarian function – evaluating the ovarian reserve
- Predicting response to in vitro fertilization
- Predicting the timing of menopause
Additionally, it can be used for:
- Assessing the severity of polycystic ovary syndrome (high values)
- Identifying ovarian neoplasms as a tumor marker (high values)
- Hormonal evaluation of androgenic characteristics in women
AMH measurement is also done in male children with poor testicular development (which may be caused by a possible deficiency).
Reference Values -Normal Laboratory :
As an indicator of ovarian reserve:
High | 4,00 – 12,60 |
---|---|
Satisfactory: | 2.19 – 4.00 |
Low | 0,30 – 2,18 |
Very Low | < 0,30 |
Menopause | < 0,20 |
In General:
Age | Males | Females |
---|---|---|
< 24 months | 14 – 466 | < 4,7 |

The checkup for Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a crucial tool in medical practice, providing valuable information about women’s reproductive health.
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a hormone produced by a woman’s ovaries. It plays a key role in regulating the growth of eggs and ovarian function. Measuring the concentration of AMH in the blood can provide important insights into a woman’s reproductive health.
The process of testing AMH typically involves taking a small blood sample from the woman. This sample is then sent to a specialized laboratory for analysis. The concentration of AMH is measured and reported to the patient.
Measuring AMH can provide information about the number of eggs remaining in a woman’s ovarian reserve, known as “ovarian reserve.” This is crucial for assessing the normalcy of reproductive function and predicting the success of responses to therapeutic procedures such as in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Additionally, measuring AMH can be used to determine the timing of menopause and menarche, as well as to identify potential reproductive issues in young women.
Doctors use the results of the AMH test along with other clinical information to diagnose and manage patients. Measuring AMH can determine the need for further tests and the implementation of specific therapeutic approaches, such as understanding the reproductive status and personalizing the planning of relevant reproductive programs. Through this test, women can take timely measures to maintain their health and address potential problems.
