Cardiovascular Risk Indicators

The analytical laboratory assessment of the risk for serious cardiovascular diseases is mainly recommended for people with multiple (at least 2-3) risk factors, such as the following:

  1. Smoking

Check Up Medicus| Cardiovascular Risk Indicators Diagnostic Center. Cardiovascular Risk Assessment Blood Tests Triplex Vessels.

  2. Diabetes
  3. Hypertension
  4. Abdominal Fat
  5. Male gender
  6. Psychological - chemical stress
  7. Family history of cardiovascular disease
  8. Personal history of blood clots – Thrombophilia
  9. Dyslipidemia
  10. Reduced movement

LABORATORY CHECK

The main parameters of the lipid profile (HDL cholesterol, LDL, Triglycerides, Total lipids) are used as an independent risk indicator of endogenous and nutritional etiology. The measurements must be evaluated with the rest of the cardiovascular risk indicators, as the riskiness or non-riskiness of the obtained values differs significantly from the other risk indicators.

Generally, a marker of inflammation, which also detects possible intravascular inflammations created in an active atheromatous process.

The values of the index are also affected by other inflammations of the body, as well as by autoimmune diseases, CRP is evaluated together with the rest of the risk indicators.

Homocysteine values are associated with damage to the epithelium of the vessels and with the risk of atherosclerosis-embolism. Increased values can be measured in cases of lack of vitamin B9 (folic acid), obesity, general inflammation, and of smokers. The MTHFR 677 gene mutation increases homocysteine values in the blood and proportionally the risk of a cardiovascular event.

It is a blood clotting factor, which is increased on inflammation of the vessels. Its values correlate with the likelihood of large clots and are further evaluated for possible prophylactic treatment. The β-fibrinogen gene mutation increases the fibrinogen values in the blood and proportionally the risk of a cardiovascular event.

It is the analysis of hereditary factors that cause the risk of blood clots and is mainly recommended for people with a family history of heart attacks, strokes, and pulmonary embolisms.

The 4 key CVD-4 IVD gene mutation screening package, which includes the genes with the strongest association with cardiovascular disease, is proposed as a baseline economic analysis, which are:

  1. MTHFR (C677T)
  2. β-fibrinogen (-455G/A)
  3. Factor V Leiden (1619Α)
  4. Prothrombin (G20210A)

There is also the complete CVD-20 Research gene test, which includes the analysis of 20 genes. For more, read the relevant page.

Imaging checkup

Triplex ultrasound is the basic imaging test that detects atherosclerotic plaques and increased blood flow due to vascular strictures. The points that are checked as independent exams are:

  1. heart
  2. carotid arteries

PREPARATION

As a preparation for the morning blood draw and the medical test, we recommend:
  1. having a meal the night before.
  2. taking up your last meal 11-12 hours before the blood draw.
  3. to have the evening with as little animal fat as possible (if it contains cheeses, fatty dairy products, and meats).
  4. taking no meal in the morning, except coffee and a piece of toasted bread, with free drinking of water.
TIME OF RESULTS
  • The results are given within a day
  • We recommended sending the results by email for a faster receipt
COSTING

EOPYY

The individual tests with the basic parameters as well as the triplex are prescribed and a fee applies according to the referral (15%). In genetics, only the MTHFR gene is prescribed with the update so far.

PRIVATE CHARGE

  1. The cost for the basic parameters (cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, total lipids, atherosclerotic index, hs-CRP, homocysteine, fibrinogen) is at the price of an economic package at 58 euros.
  2. The thrombophilia gene test CVD4 is 120 euros and CVD-20 is 180 euros.
