Hormonal Metabolism Panel (Basic)

WHAT IT IS (Hormonal Metabolism Panel (Basic))

The regulation of the metabolism is highly dependent on hormonal balance.

INDICATIONS – MEANING

Screening is indicated in adult individuals with evidence of disorders in

  • weight, muscle growth, athletic performance
  • on general mood and behaviour, sexual mood, mental functions, sleep

LABORATORY TESTING

In the study of basal hormone metabolism, we use hormones:

fT4 (free thyroxine), TSH (thyroid hormone) :

fT4 (free thyroxine), TSH (thyroid hormone) we control the basic parameters of thyroid function. The thyroid regulates the overall rate of metabolism in all cells of the body. Possible over- or underactivity significantly disrupts weight management, fat and cholesterol metabolism and sugar metabolism.

Insulin (Ins) peptide :

Insulin (Ins) peptide is the hormone responsible for the catabolism of carbohydrates (sugars). By measuring them we determine the body’s ability to catabolize sugars at a certain rate and efficiency. They further assess the likelihood of developing diabetes in cases where one can assume its possible occurrence in the future due to obesity, family history, etc.

Cortisol (Cort) :

Cortisol (Cort) is the reverse hormone to insulin. Its overexpression enhances lipogenesis and inhibits lipolysis, while making the burning of sugars problematic, giving high sugar levels.

Testosterone (Testo) :

Testosterone (Testo) is the main androgenic hormone, which is essential for proper muscle growth, which in turn regulates metabolism.

In the evaluation of hormones, it is suggested that biochemical parameters be taken into account:

Sugar (Glu) :

Sugar (Glu) Possible hyper- or hypo-glycaemia and subclinical latent diabetes (pre-diabetic state) are checked. Most useful is the 2-hour glucose measurement, i.e. the glucose level two hours after a meal rich in carbohydrates and sugars, which detects diabetes predisposition with greater sensitivity.

Creatinophosphokinase (CK or CPK) :

Creatine phosphokinase (CK or CPK) It is a muscle cell enzyme that must be detected in the blood at specific levels. Low or high values are indirectly evaluated in the assessment of metabolic rate.

CRP (C-reactive protein) :

CRP (C-reactive protein), a key marker of inflammation evaluated in detecting the negative effect of inflammation and potentially excessive adipose tissue on metabolism.

CRP (C-reactive protein) :

Urinalysis is used in the evaluation of metabolism mainly through the detection of proteins and ketone bodies, the presence of which may indicate a catabolic stage that significantly impairs the body.

Hormonal Metabolism Panel CheckUp

The metabolic hormone panel, also known as the basal hormone panel, is an important part of the medical check-up and provides information about the function of key hormones that affect metabolism and the overall health of the individual. This panel usually includes a series of analyses of key hormones, such as thyroid hormone, cortisol, insulin and adrenaline, which are responsible for controlling metabolism, blood sugar level and stress response.

Hormonal Metabolism Panel CheckUp

1. Importance of Metabolism: Metabolism is a set of chemical reactions that occur in the body to convert food into energy and maintain homeostasis of the internal environment.

2. The Basic Hormonal Factors: The key hormonal elements commonly examined include thyroid hormone, which affects the rate of metabolism, insulin, which controls blood sugar levels, and cortisol, which is associated with the stress response.

3. Need for Measurement: Measuring the levels of these hormones is important for the diagnosis and management of many health conditions, including hypothyroidism, diabetes mellitus and Cushing’s syndrome.

4. Metabolic disorders: Metabolic disorders can be caused by many factors, including thyroid function deficiency, insulin resistance and hypercalcemia.

5. Treatment of Problems.

6. Conclusions: The hormonal metabolism panel is an important factor in maintaining the general health and well-being of the individual. Through this check-up, doctors can identify early problems with metabolism and offer appropriate treatment if needed.
