Influenza type A B

Influenza A B / subtypes H1N1 / H3N2 is a common viral respiratory infection with mild to severe symptoms that can sometimes be fatal.

The test for influenza type A B / subtypes H1N1 / H3N2 detects the presence of the virus in a sample of respiratory secretions.

The choice of influenza detection tests is made in people who are ill with signs of influenza, for:

  1. separation from microbial infection (and avoiding inappropriate - harmful antibiotics)
  2. taking appropriate medications and reducing the intensity of symptoms
  3. the prevention of relatives and especially children, pregnant women, older people, and immunocompromised people (chemotherapy)

The available tests are:

  1. Rapid response (immunochromatography) simultaneous detection of Influenza type A and Type B. A positive result is an indicator of the infection. However, a negative result does not rule out infection. Based on the literature, the tests detect the infection in 50-70%
  • Molecular Biology RT-PCR in single detection of Influenza A, Influenza B, A subtypes H1N1 and H3N2. The tests have a sensitivity - detection ability that reaches 100%. They are relatively time-consuming and much more expensive. The requirement for specific tests results in negative rapid test results.

A simple collection of secretions with a special cotton swab of fluids from the nasal and pharyngeal cavity at any time of the day.

  1. The rapid test results in 10 minutes
  2. RT-PCR results in the next working day.
