Gamma Transglutaminase GGT is an enzyme found in many organs but mainly in liver cells. Possibly increased values come from an intense rate of regeneration - the destruction of the cells that contain it.

It is an examination that is included in a general check-up. The aim is to detect liver damage of a more general etiology, such as

• Viral infections
• Sebaceous infiltration
• Autoimmune liver diseases
• Bile duct obstruction
• Toxic / Alcoholic / Medicinal hepatitis
• Extreme sports using special nutrition - supplements
• Inflammation of collateral organs (pancreas-bile-intestine)
• Hepatobiliary cancer

It is also used to separate the etiology of the possible finding of multiple enzymes (Alkaline phosphatase, transaminases) with elevated values.

For adults, the following are applied:

Expected levels in healthy people:

1. Men: 10 - 80 IU/dL
2. Women : 10 - 6o IU/dL

Simple blood collection at any time of the day, without preparing food or avoiding medication

1. The result is given on the same day.
2. Possibility of urgent response in about 1 hour
